Audition Clinic - Musicals

Chicago-Theater-3Wallpapers-iPhone-5.jpg

Our audition clinic is basically a "practice" audition, during which we can give the students tips, show them vocal exercises, warm ups, and let them know if a different monologue would be better for their range. They will also get to see sneak peeks of parts of the script and get to practice with the material so they already have a bit of a grasp on it when they come to the real audition. In addition, we will provide helpful, valuable feedback for a successful audition at the clinic.

Parents, your student may participate in the Audition Clinic purely for the experience. They do not have to commit to auditioning for the musical and they do not need to be enrolled in classes at the Center. All students from the community, 3rd grade and up, may attend the audition clinic. Lastly, your student is not required to attend the audition clinic to audition for a play at The Cottage Theatre.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE AUDITION CLINIC

Please prepare a song to perform. Limit your song to no longer than one minute (it can be a section of a longer piece). It is mandatory that you give/deliver your music track to Mrs. Lacy Bucy before the audition and audition clinic.

Since this is a musical audition, students will not be required to prepare a monologue. However, readings from the script will be provided to test your acting abilities and how you work with the other actors.

Please wear clothes that you can move around in and close-toed shoes that will stay on your feet well. Of course, there will be dancing involved. Any long hair should be tied up and secured out of your face. We need to see your face and body movements, so please do not wear a hoodie, jacket, or distracting jewelry. Bring two sharpened pencils and a spiral notebook to take notes. Bring a water bottle.
